Brooklyn Woman Brutally Raped in Home Invasion: NYPD Seeks Suspects

Brooklyn, N.Y. – A 49-year-old woman in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, was victimized by two intruders who forcefully entered her home and assaulted her on Saturday evening. According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), one of the men raped the woman before the perpetrators fled the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspects, describing them as men in their 30s and approximately 5 feet 9 to 6 feet tall. One of the attackers was seen wearing a hoodie with light-colored pants, while the other was clad in black pants, a white coat, and a wool hat. Authorities are asking the public to come forward with any information about the perpetrators.

In response to the incident, the NYPD is urging anyone with relevant information to contact their Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-577-TIPS or submit tips online. Additionally, the department reported a decrease in reported rapes citywide this year compared to the previous year. However, there was a slight increase in reports during the past week compared to the same period the year before.

As of December 17, there were 1,401 reported cases of rape, marking an 11% decrease from the same time in the previous year when 1,572 rapes were reported. During the week of December 11-17, 25 rape cases were reported, up from 23 in the corresponding week in 2022. This alarming incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and community cooperation to address such heinous crimes.
