NEW YORK — New York City police were searching Sunday for two men in connection with the fatal stabbing of 25-year-old Christopher Davey in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, after investigators said the pair fled the area in a black sedan.
Davey was attacked near 882 Albany Ave. shortly before 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, according to police accounts reported by several New York news organizations. Officers responding to a report of an assault found him with stab wounds to his torso. He was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No arrests had been announced as of Sunday, and police had not disclosed a possible motive.
Investigators said two men left the scene and traveled north on Albany Avenue in a black sedan. Police described one of the men as wearing a white tank top and blue jeans. Authorities had not publicly released a description of the second man or identified either person by name.
The stabbing happened only a few blocks from where Davey lived. His father, Michael Davey, said his son had been sent to a nearby laundromat by his mother and was walking there when the attack occurred. News footage from the scene showed laundry bags near the area where police had placed crime scene tape.
Accounts from people nearby offered only limited information about what happened before the stabbing. A neighbor told CBS News New York that he heard a scuffle and people screaming before police arrived. Authorities have not said publicly what caused the confrontation or whether Davey knew the people investigators are seeking.
The timing of the attack is supported by multiple reports citing police that place the stabbing on Friday evening. Davey was found near Albany Avenue in the East Flatbush neighborhood and taken to the nearby hospital after emergency crews arrived.
The investigation remained active through the weekend as detectives worked to identify the two men and determine what led to the deadly encounter. Police have not announced that a weapon was recovered or publicly identified evidence establishing a motive.
Davey’s family has also appealed for answers as investigators continue the search. His father is a veteran Jamaican dancehall performer known professionally as Powerman. He confirmed publicly that Christopher was his son following the killing.
As of Sunday, police had reported no arrests in Davey’s death. Investigators continued looking for the two men who fled the area after the stabbing, while the circumstances leading to the attack remained under investigation.
