Boy, 11, Found Dead Inside Blue Ash Home During Welfare Check

Neighbors are awaiting answers as police release limited information about the death and a woman hospitalized from the same home.

BLUE ASH, Ohio — Residents of a Blue Ash neighborhood are waiting for answers after an 11-year-old boy was found dead during a welfare check at a Belleview Avenue home, with police saying little about what led to the discovery.

The case entered its fourth day Tuesday with key details still unknown. Authorities have not publicly identified the boy, explained why the welfare check was requested or said what investigators believe happened inside the home. A woman found there was taken to a hospital, but police have not disclosed her condition or connection to the child.

Blue Ash police and fire crews were sent to the 4700 block of Belleview Avenue on Friday evening, Oct. 23. Local reports place the response shortly after 7:30 p.m. Officers entered the home and found the 11-year-old dead. The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office was then called to determine the cause of death.

That determination remained pending Tuesday. Police have said they expect the coroner’s findings to provide important information about the investigation, but officials have not announced when those findings could be available.

The lack of information has left residents near the home with few answers about an unusual emergency response in their neighborhood. One neighbor told WLWT that residents had noticed the household seemed quieter and more withdrawn in the days before police arrived but had not viewed it as an immediate cause for alarm.

Another neighbor told FOX19 that he returned home to see the coroner’s vehicle and other vehicles at the residence. He described the death of a young child as shocking and said he had not known a boy lived at the home.

Authorities have not said the death is being investigated as a homicide, and police have announced no arrests or criminal charges. No public information has established whether the boy’s death and the woman’s hospitalization were connected, beyond both being discovered during the response at the same residence.

Sycamore Community Schools said the boy was not currently attending any of its school buildings. The district declined to provide additional information, citing privacy requirements.

The investigation remains focused on establishing what happened before first responders arrived at the Belleview Avenue home. Until the coroner determines the cause of death and police release additional findings, the boy’s death and the circumstances surrounding the welfare check remain unresolved.
