Beekeeper Injured by Military Device Explosion in Azerbaijan’s Chartar Village

The village of Chartar in the Khojavend district of Azerbaijan was shaken by an explosion of a military device at a beekeeping farm, according to a report from the Internal Affairs Ministry. The explosion occurred when 25-year-old beekeeper Samir Alasgarov accidentally touched a hand grenade he found while collecting beehives, resulting in severe injuries to his right hand, with three fingers being amputated.

The Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) provided details of the incident, emphasizing the importance of following safety rules and avoiding contact with unfamiliar objects, as well as paying attention to danger signs. The incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing danger posed by landmines and other explosives in the region, which continue to threaten the safety and well-being of residents.

The explosion underscores the need for continued efforts to clear landmines and unexploded ordnance in the area, in order to prevent similar incidents and ensure the safety of the local population. The incident also highlights the challenges faced by those working in agricultural and rural settings, where the risk of encountering explosive remnants of war remains a persistent threat.

In light of this unfortunate event, it is crucial for authorities and organizations to redouble their efforts to educate the public about the dangers of landmines and unexploded ordnance, as well as to provide support and resources for those affected by such incidents. By raising awareness and taking proactive measures to mitigate the risks, the community can work towards creating a safer environment for all residents, particularly those in rural and agricultural areas.
