Wilson, North Carolina – C.B. Aycock’s softball team demonstrated a dominating performance against Hunt in a 28-4 victory. Senior pitcher Ashleigh Gardner led the charge with an inside-the-park home run and two doubles, tallying a career-high nine RBIs in the game. In addition to her offensive prowess, Gardner also secured the win on the mound in the three-inning contest.
The Golden Falcons, who had previously ended a four-game losing streak with a 22-7 victory over Fike, improved their overall record to 9-10, with a 7-4 record in Quad County Conference games. On the other hand, the Warriors of Hunt, coming off an 18-5 loss to SouthWest Edgecombe, fell to 5-13 overall and 4-7 in conference play as they entered the Easter break.
C.B. Aycock wasted no time asserting their dominance in the game, with the first three batters reaching base and Gardner delivering a double that cleared the bases. The onslaught continued as the Falcons scored 22 runs before Hunt even had a chance to bat. Additional hits from Brooklyn Davis, Ryleigh Tortual, and Madison Bailey contributed to the offensive barrage.
Gardner’s offensive display was complemented by strong performances from her teammates, including shortstop Nikayla Weaver, who recorded a three-run inside-the-park homer. The Golden Falcons showed depth in their lineup, with multiple players contributing RBIs to the scoring. Despite giving up a few runs, Gardner held her own on the pitching mound, limiting Hunt’s scoring opportunities.
Hunt managed to put some runs on the board, but their efforts were overshadowed by C.B. Aycock’s offensive explosion. While the Warriors fought valiantly, they were unable to contain the relentless hitting display from their opponents. The game was a showcase of the Golden Falcons’ offensive firepower and overall team performance, leaving Hunt with a tough loss to contemplate during the break.
As both teams look to regroup and refocus after the break, the competition in the Quad County Conference remains fierce. C.B. Aycock’s decisive victory serves as a statement of their capabilities, while Hunt will aim to bounce back stronger in their upcoming games.
