Attackers Leave Woman Injured and Councilors Unconscious Near Oil Pump in Manipur

Bishnupur, Manipur, witnessed a violent attack on Tuesday, leaving three individuals injured. Among the victims were a 41-year-old woman, Umarani, who was found with a bullet wound in her right leg, and two municipal councilors, Md Abdul Karim (44) and Md Nasiruddin (46), who were discovered critically injured and unconscious. The attackers remain unidentified, with no group or organization claiming responsibility for the brutal acts.

All three victims were assaulted near an oil pump in the southern Bishnupur district on Tuesday night. The police reported that the councilors were found unconscious with severe injuries a short distance from where the woman was discovered. The injured individuals were promptly taken to a hospital in Imphal for urgent medical treatment.

The recent attacks in Bishnupur come in the wake of escalating violence in the district, particularly targeting Indian Army personnel. Last week, armed miscreants opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and injuries to two others. Additionally, a women-led group confronted the Indian Army on Tuesday, demanding the release of 11 detainees found with arms and ammunition in Bishnupur.

Investigations into the violent attack on Tuesday are ongoing, with authorities working to identify the perpetrators. The incidents in Bishnupur highlight the rising tensions and security concerns in the region, underscoring the need for increased vigilance and law enforcement efforts to maintain peace and safeguard the community. As the victims continue to recover from their injuries, local residents remain on edge, hoping for swift justice and resolution to the recent wave of violence in Manipur.
