Assaulting Cambridge Man Arrested After Violent Confrontation

Cambridge, MD – A man in Cambridge, MD found himself facing charges following a violent altercation on May 30 that left another individual assaulted. The incident took place around 10:21 PM in the 400 block of Willis Street, as reported by the Cambridge Police Department.

Police officers responded to a call reporting a physical disturbance at the scene. Upon arriving, they spoke with a witness and the victim, who recounted an account of Marco Ray Wilkes, a 42-year-old resident of Cambridge, MD, assaulting the victim by strangling and striking them multiple times.

The situation intensified until the witness stepped in, using pepper spray on Wilkes, prompting him to flee the residence and causing damage to windows. Wilkes was eventually found on foot near Park Lane but managed to escape into a wooded area initially. However, police were able to track him down in the 500 block of Edgewood Avenue. Wilkes sustained injuries from the window damage and was taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center for treatment before being processed at the Cambridge Police Department.

Following his initial court appearance, Wilkes was remanded to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections without bond. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing and preventing violence in communities.
