Assaulted Woman at Gisburn Holiday Park Receives 10-Month Prison Sentence

SHAW SQUARE, EARBY, UK – Leigh Jarvis, a 38-year-old man from Shaw Square, Earby, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison for assaulting his then-partner with a silver tray, resulting in serious injuries. The incident took place at Parkdean Resorts Todber Valley Holiday Park in Gisburn, where Jarvis, already on conditional bail for theft, escalated to physical violence on January 31.

The events leading to Jarvis’s arrest unfolded swiftly, starting with the theft of items from the victim. Upon being caught for theft, Jarvis was granted conditional bail but returned to the victim’s home the next night, using a silver tray to attack her in her bedroom.

Following the assault, the victim sought refuge at a neighbor’s house, injured and in distress. She sustained multiple injuries, including a head wound and a severe finger cut. The court highlighted the severity of the domestic violence she endured, commending her bravery in escaping the situation.

In his defense, Jarvis’s lawyer mentioned his struggles with anxiety, depression, and alcohol as contributing factors to the incident. Despite expressing remorse, Judge Sara Dodd sentenced Jarvis to immediate custody, emphasizing the seriousness of the attack and his extensive criminal history, which includes 66 offenses, including violence. A restraining order against Jarvis for two years was also issued to ensure the victim’s safety.
