Assault and Robbery Conviction: Jerod White III Found Guilty in East Lyme Woods

New London, Conn. – In a verdict reached on Monday, Jerod White III, a 31-year-old resident of Norwich, was found guilty of first-degree assault and first-degree robbery following a violent incident in East Lyme in October 2020. The trial, held at the New London Superior Court, concluded that White was involved in an assault and robbery that occurred during a gathering in the woods near Ravenswood Trail.

According to a statement from the state’s Division of Criminal Justice, White, along with two accomplices, attacked a 28-year-old man during the incident. The victim was subjected to a beating with a wooden object, as well as punches to the head and face, before the assailants fled the scene with the victim’s money and jewelry. Despite sustaining serious injuries, the victim was able to crawl out of the woods and seek assistance from a passerby.

The case was presided over by Honorable Elizabeth C. Leaming and prosecuted by Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Marissa N. Goldberg, with support from Inspector Robert Pickett. White’s sentencing is scheduled for April 21 at the New London Superior Court.
