ONTARIO, Calif. – An 18-year-old student is in custody after being arrested on attempted murder charges for allegedly planning a shooting at Ontario Christian High School. Sebastian Villasenor had multiple firearms and ammunition in his home, according to Ontario Police Chief Michael Lorenz.
Villasenor, a student at the high school, was reported to the authorities by a fellow student who had concerns about Villasenor’s fixation with school shootings and his access to weapons.
The police chief revealed that Villasenor had been planning the shooting and was obsessed with school shootings and police response times. He had been researching tactical supplies and had a specific date in mind for the attack.
When Villasenor was arrested, police found seven rifles, two revolvers, one handgun, and one shotgun in his home, as well as over 1,000 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect’s parents legally owned the weapons, which were seized by the police at the time of the arrest.
During interviews with Villasenor, he mentioned specific students he wanted to target, but his motive remains unclear.
The police also praised the student who came forward with the information, calling them a hero for potentially saving lives and preventing a tragedy. The school officials expressed gratitude for the student’s actions and the work of law enforcement in preventing a potential disaster.
Lorenz assured the public that there is currently no additional threat to students or staff at the school.
Villasenor faces five felony charges of attempted murder and one felony charge of attempted criminal threats.
