Arrest of Three Suspects Linked to January 6 Capitol Assault Announced by American Authorities

OCALA, Fla. – Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the January 6, 2021 assault on the US Capitol. The arrests were made on a ranch in the southern state of Florida. Jonathan Pollock, Olivia Pollock, and Joseph Hutchinson are facing charges including assaulting and resisting civil servants as well as disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. The FBI had offered a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Jonathan Pollock, who was considered armed and dangerous. These arrests come as the country marks the third anniversary of the violent attack by Donald Trump’s supporters.

There have been nearly 1,300 people charged in relation to the Capitol riot, with most of them facing charges of illegally entering the Capitol or causing property damage. However, around 350 individuals have been charged with assaulting law enforcement officers or resisting arrest. Members of far-right groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers have been convicted of the more serious charge of seditious conspiracy. Former President Trump, who is seeking a second term in the Oval Office, is facing felony charges over his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and his role in the January 6, 2021 assault.

In February, the Supreme Court will hear a case on whether Trump is eligible to seek election to a second term, given his alleged role in the assault. Despite the allegations against him, he is currently the frontrunner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. A recent poll released by the Washington Post/University of Maryland shows that 39 percent of Americans believe the assault on the Capitol was the result of a plot hatched by the FBI.

Jonathan Pollock, Olivia Pollock, and Joseph Hutchinson are set to appear in federal court in Ocala, Florida on Monday. The arrests come as part of the ongoing effort by authorities to hold individuals accountable for their actions during the Capitol riot.
