SAVANNAH, Ga. — A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a visiting teenager from Gwinnett County. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced the charges against Franklin Leonard James Jr., who faces multiple counts, including felony murder and armed robbery.
James, now in custody at the Savannah Regional Youth Detention Center, is being processed as an adult, which has implications for the release of his booking photograph. The arrest follows the recent death of 17-year-old Antonio Thornton Jr., who was shot and killed two weeks ago in Bloomingdale, just outside Savannah.
Thornton, affectionately known as “TJ,” was reportedly visiting family when he was found outside an apartment complex with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving his family grappling with the tragic loss.

He’s not going to get married,” Abdullah said.
