Arrest Made in Fort Gaines for Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Firearm Possession

FORT GAINES, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation made an arrest in connection to a fatal shooting in Fort Gaines, Georgia. The suspect, 33-year-old Keddrick Hall, was taken into custody for felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to GBI officials, the incident took place on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, around 2 p.m. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a shooting on Doughty Road in Fort Gaines. They discovered 59-year-old Ervin Smith, who had been shot. Smith was airlifted to Southeast Health Medical Center in Dothan, Ala., where he succumbed to his injuries.

Hall was apprehended not far from the scene and was subsequently booked into the Randolph County Jail. He now faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possessing a firearm during the commission of a crime.
