Arrest Made in Decade-Long Cold Case of Philadelphia Home Invasion Murder and Rape

HILLTOWN TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania – A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged in connection with a decade-old crime that left one man dead and his girlfriend assaulted in their Hilltown Township home. Thomas Delgado, 50, faces numerous felony charges, including homicide, kidnapping, and rape. The arrest comes after years of baffling investigators.

According to authorities, the incident occurred in January 2013 when Delgado, along with another masked man, broke into the home, tied up the victims, and stole jewelry, firearms, and money. After killing the male victim and assaulting his girlfriend, the perpetrators fled the scene in a stolen truck, leaving investigators with a decade-long mystery.

The case saw a major breakthrough in 2019 when new evidence emerged, leading authorities to re-examine the stolen truck and uncover items matching the suspects’ description. These items were sent for DNA analysis, which eventually led to the identification of Thomas Delgado. In addition, phone records linked the victim with Delgado, providing further evidence of his involvement in the crime.

The girlfriend, who was assaulted during the invasion, identified Delgado as her alleged rapist and confirmed that she had never met him before. Furthermore, phone records revealed multiple calls between Delgado and the victim in the years leading up to the crime, strengthening the case against him.

Despite the arrest of Thomas Delgado, the second suspect involved in the home invasion remains at large. The victim, Joseph Canazaro, was described as having incurred significant debts prior to his death, including debts owed to various casinos. His murder, followed by the mysterious disappearance of the second suspect, has left authorities and the community seeking closure for over a decade. As investigations continue, the case leaves a haunting question: who else was involved in this heinous crime all those years ago?
