Arrest Made: Accused LA Man Arrested for Murders of Homeless Men

Los Angeles, California – The Los Angeles Police Department has apprehended a suspect in the murders of three homeless men, as well as a fourth victim who was fatally shot in his garage during a robbery. The arrest of 33-year-old Jerrid Joseph Powell came after his vehicle was identified in Beverly Hills late Wednesday.

The authorities suspected Powell of carrying out a series of murders over the course of four days, including the killing of Nicholas Simbolon in San Dimas. Chief Michel Moore of the Los Angeles Police Department revealed that they were able to connect Powell’s vehicle to the murders through their investigation.

The suspect, a resident of Los Angeles, is believed to have fatally shot three homeless men from November 26 to November 29. Following the identification of his vehicle by police in Beverly Hills, a traffic stop led to the recovery of the gun used in the murders and Powell’s subsequent arrest.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna commended the use of controversial license plate reader systems, which had led to the identification and eventual arrest of Powell. Powell, a convicted felon with a history of violence, is now facing multiple charges, including the follow home murder of Simbolon and the deaths of the three homeless men.

Mayor Karen Bass praised the swift action of the police and sheriff’s departments in capturing the alleged murderer. With Powell in custody, authorities are now focused on ensuring the safety of the community, particularly the unhoused population.

The three victims, all homeless men, were killed in separate locations around the city, with the murders taking place in the early hours of Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. The motive for the killings has not yet been established, and further details about Powell’s background and previous convictions were not disclosed.

In conclusion, the apprehension of Powell has brought relief to the community, and authorities are now focused on ensuring that he faces the full extent of the law for his alleged crimes. Despite the tragic events, the collaboration between law enforcement agencies has demonstrated their commitment to protecting the citizens of Los Angeles.
