Armed Robbers Pistol-Whip North Houston Store Owner

HOUSTON, TX – An armed robbery at a convenience store in Houston’s Independence Heights has left the community shaken as police search for two suspects caught on camera fleeing the scene. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning at the Harvest Food store on Yale Street.

Surveillance footage captured the dramatic moments as two masked men entered the store, one jumping over the counter while the other forced his way through the glass door. They were armed and swiftly attacked the store owner, Mohammed, who was working alone at the time.

According to police reports, the assailants pistol-whipped Mohammed, leaving him with severe injuries. In a phone interview, Mohammed recounted the harrowing experience, noting that he was hit multiple times in the face and heard three gunshots during the attack. He was later hospitalized and required nearly 10 stitches to his head.

The thieves managed to escape with approximately $3,000 in cash, cell phones, and a stockpile of cigarettes before fleeing in a red truck parked nearby. The robbery has left a significant impact on the local community, with residents expressing their outrage and concern.

Bobby Harris, a close friend of Mohammed, was among those who rushed to the scene after hearing the news. He described Mohammed as a respected businessman who has been a pillar of the community for over three decades. “He doesn’t deserve this,” Harris said, emphasizing the store owner’s contributions to the neighborhood.

The incident has heightened concerns about safety in the area, as both Mohammed and Harris noted that crime is typically rare in their community. They remain hopeful that the suspects will be apprehended soon, and are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement.

In response to the robbery, Harris mentioned plans to increase security measures at the store. “We all need to stick together and watch out for each other,” he said, reflecting a shared sentiment among local residents who are determined to support one another.

As the investigation continues, Mohammed expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal. He remains hopeful that justice will be served and is thankful for the community’s support during this challenging time.
