Accidents

Boise, Idaho – Last weekend proved to be a tragic and perilous time in several areas across Idaho as multiple car accidents led to loss of life and injuries. Reports from the Idaho State Police highlighted the severity of the situation, with four fatalities including a juvenile in Canyon County, along with two adults in a separate incident in the same county. Moreover, a male involved in a prior crash also succumbed to his injuries over the weekend. Additionally, five individuals were reported as injured and in need of medical attention at various hospitals due to crashes on Idaho roads.

One of the incidents involved a fatal collision at the intersection of Southside Boulevard and Melmont Road in Canyon County. A juvenile from Melba, Idaho, driving a 1992 Ford F150 pickup, failed to halt at a stop sign, resulting in a collision with a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by a 44-year-old male from the same area. Tragically, the juvenile, who was not wearing a seatbelt, lost their life at the scene of the crash. The male driver of the Toyota and a female passenger were injured but wearing their seatbelts, and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The Idaho State Police are actively investigating this heartbreaking incident, along with the other accidents recorded over the weekend.

Another fatal accident occurred involving a dump truck and a pickup truck pulling a trailer. Both drivers, a 49-year-old male from Caldwell and a 58-year-old male from Nampa, were killed in a head-on collision on US20-26 near milepost 18 in Canyon County. The driver of the dump truck was not wearing a seatbelt, while the driver of the pickup truck was properly restrained. Authorities have confirmed that the road is now cleared and open for traffic following this devastating crash.

In an update provided by the Idaho State Police, it was revealed that the driver of a white Dodge Ram involved in a previous accident on April 16th had passed away from injuries sustained in the crash. The collision, a head-on incident with a semi-truck on US12, resulted in the tragic loss of life for the driver. The full details of this incident can be found on the Idaho State Police blog for those seeking further information.

Furthermore, two other accidents on Saturday evening resulted in injured occupants being taken to hospitals for treatment. In one case, a male driver failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with a parked train, while in another, a police officer and a male in custody were struck by an elderly driver on US95 in Fruitland. Both incidents required transportation by ground ambulance to local medical facilities for care.

As Idaho grapples with the aftermath of these devastating accidents, it serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving. The Idaho State Police continue to investigate each incident to determine the causes and prevent future tragedies on the state’s roads.
