Accidents Mar Vibrant RXZ Members 7.0 Event as Tragic Crashes Claim Lives of Participants

Terengganu, Malaysia — A large gathering of Yamaha RXZ motorcycle enthusiasts drew crowds from across the nation on August 22 for the RXZ Members 7.0 event. This annual meeting celebrates the iconic two-stroke bike, bringing together owners and fans to participate in various activities and contests designed to showcase their passion.

However, the opening day of the event was marred by tragedy. Two serious accidents occurred involving riders on their way to the venue, raising concerns about safety among participants. Footage circulating on social media captured some of the grim moments, including a troubling scene on a highway near Chukai, where multiple motorcycles lay wrecked, and injured riders sought refuge on the roadside.

Another video depicted a group of riders in a reckless display, speeding and changing lanes erratically while demonstrating risky maneuvers like the “Superman” position. These incidents have sparked discussions on the behaviors observed within the motorcycle community, as well as the need for more stringent safety protocols during such large gatherings.

In one tragic case, a 33-year-old sales executive named Mohd Syukri Shahrudin lost his life after colliding with another vehicle on Jalan Palong 8 in Pahang. Local police reported that the accident occurred early in the morning, and initial findings suggest that the rider’s loss of control was a contributing factor. Mohd Syukri was part of a convoy of about 60 motorcycles heading to the event when the fatal crash happened.

Similarly, Roslinawati Ramli, a 33-year-old nurse, died following a crash on the East Coast Expressway near Ajil. She was also part of a motorcycle convoy heading to the RXZ Members gathering. Officials from local law enforcement indicated that her motorcycle seemingly became uncontrollable, leading to the tragic outcome. These incidents have prompted police to reiterate their commitment to ensuring the safety of all participants during the event.

In response to the gathering, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a RM100,000 allocation from the federal government to support the RXZ Members 7.0 event. He emphasized the importance of the motorcycle community, recognizing their role in fostering unity, friendship, and stimulating local economic growth through their events.

The RXZ Members 7.0 event, taking place at the Terengganu Drag Strip in Kuala Nerus, is expected to attract over 100,000 participants, surpassing last year’s turnout of 60,000. To manage the large influx of attendees, approximately 600 police officers have been deployed across various districts to maintain order and ensure safety.

As the event progresses over the weekend, organizers are hopeful that participants will prioritize safety and responsible riding to prevent further tragedies. The community remains optimistic about celebrating their shared passion for motorcycles, alongside paying tribute to those whose lives were lost.
