Abuser Jailed for Two-Year Violent Attacks on Woman

Eaglescliffe, United Kingdom – A man from Eaglescliffe, United Kingdom, has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for subjecting a woman to two years of violent abuse. Glen Hutchinson, 29, previously of York, pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation, four counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, and perverting the course of justice last year.

Hutchinson’s abuse towards the woman, which included attacks while she was pregnant, resulted in severe physical and emotional harm. He had violently assaulted her multiple times, even while holding a baby, causing the infant to hit a doorframe. Additionally, Hutchinson attempted to persuade the victim not to assist in the investigation, leading to additional charges of perverting the course of justice.

Throughout the investigation, Detective Constable Gemma Illidge noted Hutchinson’s complete lack of remorse for his actions, highlighting his continuous breach of bail that eventually led to his remand. Despite facing such traumatic experiences, the victim displayed immense courage by coming forward to speak to the authorities and support the prosecution.

Illidge expressed gratitude towards the victim for her bravery and resilience during the difficult process, acknowledging the challenges she faced. The detective added that she hoped the sentencing would provide the victim with some reassurance and aid in putting the traumatic ordeal behind her.

The case serves as a reminder of the importance of holding perpetrators of domestic violence accountable for their actions and providing support and justice for survivors. The sentencing of Hutchinson reflects the severity of the crimes committed and the impact they had on the victim, emphasizing the need for continued efforts to address and prevent such incidents in society.
