Frisco, Texas – Frisco police have apprehended two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in a Walmart parking lot. The incident took place on November 15, 2023, resulting in the death of Dung Doan, 62, and the injury of Zachary Lowe, a 20-year-old Army veteran. The suspects, Jhirrell Harris and Stephanie Gayden, were identified months ago, thanks to an anonymous tip from the public.
Authorities traveled to Ouachita County Jail in Monroe, Louisiana, to serve warrants to Harris, who was already in custody for a separate offense. Harris was charged with capital murder in Doan’s death, as well as aggravated robbery and assault in Lowe’s case. He is currently held without bond and awaits extradition to Collin County.
Gayden, 37, also from Louisiana, is in Collin County Jail and faces a capital murder charge with a bond set at $1,000,000. According to Lowe’s family, the shooter – believed to be Harris – asked Lowe for a cigarette, pulled out a gun, and demanded money from him.
Assistant Chief Darren Stevens of the Frisco Police Department described the acts of violence by Harris and Gayden as unimaginable tragedies that have deeply impacted the Doan and Lowe families. Doan, who immigrated from Vietnam in 2022 and had two children, was a victim of the random shooting.
The families of the victims are devastated by the senseless violence, as they struggle to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. The community is shocked by the tragic events that unfolded in a place where people typically go about their daily lives without fear. Investigators continue to gather evidence and work towards bringing justice for Doan and Lowe.
