WAKE COUNTY, N.C. – A man is scheduled to appear in court after being arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on Interstate 40 in Wake County. The suspect, 32-year-old Josue Alejandro Quintanilla-Reyes, was apprehended by authorities following the incident that claimed the life of 35-year-old Ricardo Baez Cardenas.
According to the sheriff’s office, the shooting took place early in the morning on Interstate 40 East close to N. Harrison Avenue. Responding deputies discovered a vehicle on the roadside with an injured driver inside. Despite being rushed to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, the victim succumbed to the wounds later that day.
Cardenas, described as a father of two, was en route to work at the time of the tragic incident, as shared by his grief-stricken family with ABC11.
