Winnipeg, Manitoba – A 15-year-old boy from Winnipeg and a 20-year-old man from Garson, Manitoba are currently facing charges related to a violent assault that occurred last week in the Westdale neighborhood of the city.
Authorities responded to a call at a convenience store on Dale Boulevard on a Friday evening at approximately 9:35 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 36-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper body. Quick action from the officers, who applied tourniquets to the victim, helped stabilize him until paramedics arrived. The injured man was subsequently taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
Following the incident, with assistance from Air1, law enforcement was able to intercept a vehicle suspected to be linked to the attack on Norlone Drive. Four individuals were apprehended, and inside the vehicle, an air pistol and a machete were seized by the authorities.
Further investigation disclosed that a verbal altercation had taken place between the victim and the suspects at the convenience store prior to the assault. The perpetrators returned armed with a machete, which they then used against the 36-year-old victim.
The 15-year-old boy from Winnipeg is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault and weapon possession, and is currently in custody. On the other hand, the 20-year-old man from Garson has been charged with two counts of weapon possession and was released on an Undertaking per the Criminal Code.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to gather more information regarding the incident.
