Dhaka, Bangladesh — In a critical move addressing escalating violence ahead of the national elections, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus convened an urgent meeting with top law enforcement officials on Friday. The meeting was prompted by the recent shooting of Sharif Osman Hadi, a prominent spokesperson for Inqilab Mancha and a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 parliamentary seat.
During the meeting held at the state guesthouse Jamuna, Yunus issued a firm directive demanding swift action against those responsible for the attack. Reports indicate that Hadi was shot in the head by armed assailants in the busy Paltan area, a brazen act that has elicited widespread alarm within the political community and among the general public.
Expressing his deep concern over the incident, Yunus underscored the necessity for law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrators. “Such a violent act in the context of an upcoming election is unacceptable and poses a serious threat to a peaceful political environment,” he stated.
