Woodsock, Ga. — A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a violent incident involving his girlfriend. Logan Ben Jordan, a resident of Waleska, faced a series of charges related to the October 2022 attack, which left the victim traumatized and in fear for her safety.
Jordan received a 50-year sentence, with 15 years mandated in prison, according to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office. His charges included multiple offenses such as false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and battery, among others.
The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office led the investigation into the case, which highlighted the severity of domestic violence. Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe, who prosecuted the case, described the assault as not only physically abusive but also psychologically damaging, emphasizing that the victim was terrorized during the incident.
During the plea hearing held on September 11, the victim provided a heartfelt statement, sharing the profound emotional scars left by the abuse. She detailed her ongoing struggle with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, including distressing flashbacks of the attack, where she endured threats with a knife and physical strangulation.
The prosecution advocated for the substantial prison sentence, arguing it was a necessary measure to address the severity of the crimes. Meanwhile, Jordan’s defense proposed probation, arguing that he had maintained a clean record since the arrest. However, Superior Court Judge Jennifer L. Davis ruled in favor of the state’s recommendation, imposing strict conditions in addition to the prison term, such as a no-contact order with the victim and required participation in counseling programs.
