Undetected Crash Claims Driver’s Life, Injures Passenger

LAKE COUNTY, FL – A tragic car accident that went unnoticed for hours left a community in shock after a sports car veered off the road and into the woods, claiming one life and severely injuring another. The crash was discovered Saturday morning by a homeowner who stumbled upon the wreckage outside her property.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that a speeding Corvette lost control, collided with a tree, and crashed deep into the wooded area. The driver, identified as Jason Myers, was ejected from the vehicle and found lifeless nearby. His passenger, Zachary Craig, was trapped inside the car for nearly nine hours before being discovered.

Friends and coworkers of the victims, both employed at First Dimension Roofing, gathered at the crash site to pay their respects. Juan Rivera, a colleague, expressed his sorrow, recalling the victims’ vibrant spirits. “Jason was a beacon of light. We hope Zachary can recover,” Rivera said.

The men were returning from a company outing at Topgolf when the accident occurred. Authorities suspect excessive speed played a role as the car went airborne before crashing along Live Oak Ranch Road.

Myers was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report, which contributed to his ejection. Craig’s injuries are severe, and his father shared concerns over a potential paralysis.

The homeowner who discovered the crash noted that accidents at this location are not uncommon. Neighbors attribute the frequent incidents to speeding and a deceptive dip in the road leading to the intersection.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a memorial for Myers has been added to others in the area. Friends emphasize the importance of living boldly, a lesson they say Myers embodied.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the profound impact on those left behind.
