Tragedy Unfolds in Concord: 19-Year-Old Faces Murder Charges After Quadruple Shooting Claims Two Lives

Concord, N.C. — A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder and robbery following a violent shooting incident that left two people dead and two others injured at the Brooke Pointe apartments on Sunday night. Brandon Morris Jr. faces multiple charges including two counts of first-degree murder and armed robbery, as well as discharging a firearm into an occupied property.

According to authorities, Morris allegedly stole a rifle from one of the victims before opening fire on a vehicle parked outside the apartments. The shooting resulted in the deaths of two men and injuries to two women who were inside the car. One of the deceased has been identified as Kemouri Blount. The incident has left the local community reeling from the tragic loss.

Tina Sykes-Mosley, a community advocate, spoke out on behalf of the Blount family, sharing their heartbreaking story of multiple losses due to gun violence. The victims’ mother had previously lost another son, killed by a gun in December 2024. “No mother should have to bury her child, but to have to go through this twice… it’s unimaginable,” Sykes-Mosley said.

Authorities reported that the community of Brooke Pointe was on edge following the shooting as they awaited news of any arrests. When Morris was apprehended, the arrest warrant outlined details of the crime, prompting both concern and relief among residents. Many expressed a desire for enhanced safety measures in the area.

Sykes-Mosley, who founded an organization dedicated to supporting mothers affected by gun violence after losing her own son, now finds herself advocating for the Blount family during this difficult time. “The grief they are experiencing is compounded. She lost her youngest son to senseless violence and now has to bury her oldest child,” she reflected.

The Blount family has faced additional trauma; just six months after the death of her youngest son, their home was the site of another shooting, captured on surveillance footage. In that moment, the mother, Danielle Blount, expressed feelings of despair, questioning why her family has endured such suffering. “We’re just trying to live peacefully, and we’ve already lost so much,” she lamented.

In the wake of this latest tragedy, the community is rallying around the grieving family. Sykes-Mosley emphasized the need for both emotional and financial support, noting the expenses associated with funerals and other related costs are significant. “This mother cannot go back to work right now. How can she possibly function after losing her second child?” she asked.

In a painful twist, Kemouri Blount was expecting his first child in June. The community’s effort to support the family includes an organized fundraiser to help with the unexpectedly mounting costs. Contributions will go towards funeral expenses and other necessary support as the family navigates through this difficult chapter.

As the Blount family faces the challenging road ahead, they are not alone; their community stands united in grief and determination to help them find a sense of peace amid the turmoil.
