According to Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Alex Dinkla, several lives were lost in the severe weather, although efforts were ongoing to confirm the exact number of casualties. Despite this tragic toll, officials stated that everyone in the area was believed to be fully accounted for, with search operations continuing as a precautionary measure.
In wake of the devastation, a triage center was set up at Greenfield High School by the Adair County Health System to provide medical assistance to those in need. Additionally, a curfew was enforced from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning as a safety measure in the aftermath of the tornado.
The National Weather Service reported over 20 tornadoes across the state of Iowa, reflecting the widespread impact of the severe weather conditions.
