Tekashi 6ix9ine Sues LA Fitness Over Violent Sauna Assault

Miami, Florida – Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has filed a lawsuit against LA Fitness in connection with a violent assault he experienced at one of the gym chain’s South Florida locations in March 2023. In the complaint filed in a Florida court on Wednesday, Tekashi, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is seeking over $1 million in damages for the attack that left him hospitalized.

According to his attorneys, Tekashi alleges that LA Fitness did not take adequate security measures to prevent the assault, resulting in him being brutally beaten, assaulted, and robbed by three assailants. The attackers, who were identified as members of the Latin Kings gang, were later arrested, with two of them reaching plea deals and the charges against the third being dropped.

The lawsuit contends that LA Fitness should have been aware of the increased crime rates in the area where their gym was located and taken appropriate security measures to prevent violent incidents. The gym has yet to provide a comment on the matter.

This incident is not Tekashi’s first involvement with criminal activities, as he has previously faced charges related to racketeering and murder conspiracy in connection with a New York street gang. Despite his past entanglements, Tekashi has cooperated with prosecutors in exchange for leniency, providing detailed testimony about his gang involvement during a trial in 2019.

Following his cooperation, Tekashi was sentenced to two years in prison and five years of supervised release, which was cut short due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he faced another stint in prison recently for allegedly violating the terms of his supervised release.

Tekashi’s legal battle with LA Fitness sheds light on the complexities of personal security in public spaces, as individuals like him navigate the repercussions of their past actions while seeking accountability for harm inflicted upon them. The outcome of this lawsuit will likely impact discussions around the responsibility of businesses to ensure the safety of their patrons.
