Los Angeles, California – A man from Los Angeles endured a harrowing experience after being brutally attacked by a mob of bike-riding teens while attempting to make a quick trip to the store and catch a Lakers game. The incident unfolded at the intersection of San Vicente Boulevard and Carillo Drive in Central LA, where the man, Maurice Benaim, found himself confronted by a group of around 20 to 30 teens blocking his path.
According to Benaim, what started as a routine errand quickly escalated into a violent encounter when he honked his horn to alert the teens of a changing traffic light. In response, the group became agitated, attacking his car and even threatening him with a gun. The situation further deteriorated when Benaim confronted the teens after exiting his vehicle, resulting in him suffering injuries to his face and head.
After bystanders intervened to assist Benaim during the attack, the delinquents fled the scene, leaving him to deal with the physical and psychological aftermath of the traumatic event. Photos shared by his family on a fundraising platform showcased the extent of his injuries, including a large bruise on his upper eyelid.
In efforts to cover medical expenses and repair damages to the family car, Benaim’s relatives initiated a fundraiser, hoping to gather support for his recovery process. The fund would also contribute to covering the costs of therapy and psychological assistance to help him overcome the trauma he endured. His brother, Judah, expressed the family’s desire to seek justice against the perpetrators, emphasizing the importance of collective support in aiding Maurice’s healing and sense of security.
Following the incident, the Los Angeles police in the Wilshire Area made two arrests in connection to the attack after receiving a tip. While the identities of the juveniles involved were not disclosed, the arrests served as a glimmer of hope for Benaim, who viewed them as a deterrent to similar acts of violence.
As Benaim continues to recuperate and navigate the aftermath of the assault, he remains optimistic that the arrests will convey a message to the teens involved and their peers to refrain from engaging in violent behavior. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community support and solidarity in helping individuals like Benaim heal and rebuild their sense of security in the face of adversity.
