Houston, Texas – The Houston Police Department is actively seeking a suspect in connection with the tragic shooting that claimed the life of a teenager on Friday evening in northeast Houston.
The incident unfolded in the 600 block of Harbor Street around 9 p.m., where officers responded to reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered the teenager fatally wounded inside a vehicle.
The victim has been identified by his family as 15-year-old Christopher Garcia. Authorities noted that Garcia was out with friends when he allegedly engaged in a heated argument over the phone with the suspect, leading to the fatal confrontation.
Details surrounding the phone call and the nature of the dispute remain undisclosed by officials at this time. Reportedly, the suspect later arrived at the scene where Garcia was and opened fire on the car, ultimately striking and fatally injuring the teenager.
Lieutenant Ali of the HPD emphasized the importance of public cooperation in providing information to assist in the investigation and aid the victim’s family. However, no description of the suspect has been released by the authorities.
This unfortunate incident marks the third shooting involving a teenager within the same week in Houston. Prior to this, two students from Pasadena Memorial High School were shot after a fight broke out near the school, with both expected to recover. Additionally, a 17-year-old student from Aldine High School lost his life outside a McDonald’s after an altercation in the drive-thru, resulting in the detention of several persons of interest.
As the Houston Police Department continues its search for the suspect in Garcia’s murder, the community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in bringing justice for the victim and his family.
