Teen Accused of Killing Mother in Galveston

GALVESTON, TX – A tragedy unfolded in Galveston as a 16-year-old girl was accused of fatally shooting her mother, leaving a community in shock. The incident took place just before 8 p.m. on Avenue Q, sparking a police investigation.

Tia Moya Moore, 34, was the victim of the shooting and later died from her injuries. Her daughter has been identified as the suspect, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the incident.

Family members and neighbors are grappling with the situation, trying to comprehend the motive behind the shooting. Moore’s mother, who heard the gunshots, expressed her disbelief and confusion.

Neighbor Graciela Molina described the night as chaotic, hearing a loud argument followed by gunfire. “I was outside when it happened,” she said, pointing out the bullet holes in nearby structures.

The normally serene neighborhood is now dealing with the aftermath of violence. Another resident mentioned the rapid police response that followed the gunfire.

The suspect fled but returned during the investigation, resulting in her arrest. She is currently detained at the Juvenile Justice Center on a murder charge.
