DALLAS, TX – A 20-year-old man has been taken into custody, charged with capital murder following a deadly shooting outside a bar. Alexis Armenta turned himself in to U.S. Marshals after a tragic incident that left two dead and several others injured.
According to police, the violence erupted early on October 12 during a gathering on La Prada Drive. Witnesses reported a fight broke out, leading Armenta to allegedly draw a firearm and open fire. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of 21-year-old Jacob Cuellar and another young man named Daniel.
An arrest warrant affidavit reveals that Armenta was dressed in a distinctive blue and red Spider-Man costume shirt and was carrying a purse during the shooting. Surveillance footage captured the moment when Cuellar allegedly struck Armenta, prompting him to retaliate by firing a black semiautomatic weapon toward the crowd.
Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene, noting that Armenta fled while discharging his weapon into the air. A security guard at the location identified Armenta leaving the scene in a black BMW, which was later tracked using license plate surveillance technology.
The sophisticated camera system provided crucial evidence, allowing investigators to identify and locate the suspect. These cameras record continuously, offering law enforcement a valuable tool in tracking criminal activity and identifying suspects.
Currently held in the Dallas County Jail, Armenta’s bail has not been determined. Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of the victims, with Daniel’s family establishing a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses. The funeral is scheduled for Monday.
The incident has sparked discussions about safety measures and the effectiveness of surveillance technology in aiding police investigations. The tragic event underscores the ongoing challenges in addressing gun violence and ensuring public safety.
