Virginia Beach, Virginia – A tragic turn of events unfolded as a woman facing murder charges in the death of her father, a well-known Virginia Beach dentist, was discovered dead by suicide in jail.
Norah Horwitz, 38, was found unresponsive during a routine security check at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center on Sunday evening. Despite efforts by medical staff to revive her, she was pronounced dead shortly after.
Horwitz had been arrested in June of this year on charges of second-degree murder and assault during the commission of a felony following the death of her father, Dr. Abbey Horwitz. The initial incident involved the stabbing death of Dr. Horwitz at his residence, leading to Norah’s arrest.
During court proceedings, Horwitz revealed that she had acted out of fear of sexual assault by her father, explaining that he had made an inappropriate advance towards her that escalated into violence. The autopsy report presented in court showed that Dr. Horwitz had sustained approximately 100 stab wounds during the altercation.
