LEBANON, Maine — A man from New Hampshire has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing incident on Monday that left another individual severely injured. The altercation occurred in the early afternoon, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
At approximately 2 p.m., deputies from the York County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to West Lebanon Road to investigate reports of a disturbance. As they were en route, they received updated information regarding a stabbing at a nearby residence. Authorities learned that the 52-year-old victim had left the scene and was seeking medical assistance.
A deputy found the victim on Carl Broggi Highway, where he was promptly treated by rescue personnel. The man sustained multiple stab wounds, with injuries to his chest, face, back, and head. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland for critical care.
Further investigation by the sheriff’s office revealed that Jeremy Potvin, 35, had entered the victim’s home without an invitation and attacked him. Potvin is reportedly known to the victim, leading authorities to believe that the encounter was not entirely random.
Following the attack, law enforcement initiated a search for Potvin. He was later located by officers with the Berwick Police Department. Potvin has since been charged with attempted murder, and his bail has been set at $150,000 in cash. He is currently in custody and is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday afternoon at the York Judicial Center in Biddeford.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with authorities working to piece together the circumstances that led to the violent confrontation. In the meantime, the victim’s condition remains serious, and further updates on his recovery are anticipated as the situation develops.
