Los Angeles – A tragic shooting in the Windsor Square neighborhood has left two people dead, including a woman who has been identified as 34-year-old Jenna Baeza. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire late Wednesday night, discovering both victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department received the emergency call shortly before midnight in the 200 block of North Ridgewood Place, positioned between Beverly Boulevard and First Street. Upon their arrival, they found Baeza and a man, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, critically injured. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced them dead at the scene.
On Friday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed Baeza’s identity and reported that she died from a gunshot wound to the neck. Additionally, another woman was injured during the incident and transported to a hospital, where she is expected to recuperate.
LAPD Lt. Sean Kinchla, from the department’s Robbery Homicide Division, indicated that while the investigation is still in its early stages, preliminary findings suggest the shooting was an isolated incident. “We’re gathering facts and evidence to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic event,” he stated.
Reports have emerged suggesting that the incident may involve a murder-suicide scenario. Local media outlets indicated that the deceased man, said to be 39 years old, was considered the shooter, while the surviving woman is reported to be 70. However, police have not confirmed these specifics.
Investigators have retrieved a handgun believed to be involved in the shooting from the scene. The case has since been handed over to the LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide, which is working diligently to piece together the events leading to this tragedy.
