DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A tragic incident unfolded in Daytona Beach early this morning, leaving one person dead and another injured in a shooting at a residence. Police are currently on the lookout for the suspect(s) who fled the scene in a car following the violent encounter on Butler Boulevard around 4 a.m. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered multiple individuals, including one who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and another who had been pistol-whipped. Both victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where the individual with the gunshot wound tragically succumbed to their injuries.
Daytona Police Chief Jakari Young revealed that authorities had been called to the same residence on several previous occasions, prompting them to designate the property as a “special project” to address the ongoing issues there. This particular home is situated only a few blocks away from Main Street, where thousands of individuals are currently gathered for Daytona Beach Bike Week. Concerned neighbors have expressed their frustration, with one resident, Mary Hamilton, lamenting the disruption and violence in their community caused by the incident.
Eye witnesses have been interviewed by the police in connection with the shooting, however, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed at this time.
