Shooting in South Tulsa Leaves One Man Dead, One Woman Injured; Suspect Identified as Victim’s Son

TULSA, Okla. — A shooting in South Tulsa on Thursday evening has left one man dead and a woman injured, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.

Police received a 911 call shortly after 7:30 p.m. from a woman who reported being shot in the back at an apartment located on 62nd Street. Responding officers discovered both the injured woman and a male victim inside the residence. Fortunately, both individuals were conscious and able to communicate with law enforcement as they received initial treatment.

According to police reports, the victims identified the alleged shooter as the adult son of the male victim. They provided officers with a name and a description of the suspect’s clothing, noting that he is homeless but often seen in the area around 61st and Peoria.

A bystander reported witnessing the suspect flee the scene on foot, which led law enforcement to intensify their search in the vicinity. A police helicopter soon located the suspect hiding behind a fence in the 6300 block of South Peoria Avenue. K9 units and patrol officers apprehended him a short time later, around 8 p.m. A handgun was subsequently recovered near his hiding spot.

Tragically, the male victim succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The woman remains hospitalized, although her condition has not been disclosed as authorities continue to monitor her treatment.

In the wake of this incident, police have stated that their investigation is ongoing but currently do not believe any additional suspects are involved. As of now, the identities of both the victims and the suspect have not been released.
