Macon, Georgia — An 18-year-old man was fatally shot at a gas station in East Macon on Wednesday, prompting a search for a person of interest.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones confirmed that the victim was identified as De’Kerrio Jamontez Cobb, a local resident. Authorities responded to a 911 call reporting the shooting at the Citgo gas station, located at 1904 Shurling Drive, shortly before noon. When deputies arrived, they discovered Cobb unresponsive at the scene with a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead on site by Mid Georgia Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone.
In the wake of the incident, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance footage showing a person of interest believed to be connected to the shooting. The department is urging the community to assist in identifying the individual to facilitate the investigation.
