SOPERTON, Ga. — A tragic shooting in this small Georgia city has left one teenager dead and another critically injured, prompting the arrest of two suspects in connection with the incident. Authorities reported that both suspects, a 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, now face multiple charges, including felony murder and aggravated assault.
The shooting occurred on New Street, where law enforcement found a 15-year-old student from Treutlen County unresponsive. Despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim, a 17-year-old, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and has been airlifted to a local trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.

The Georgia State Patrol, Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, Dublin Police Department, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dublin Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office have all played roles in securing evidence and gathering information.
“This incident is a sad reminder of the consequences of violence in our community,” Scott said, expressing condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. He noted the seriousness of the crime and reiterated the department’s commitment to thoroughly investigating the case.
The arrests have heightened security concerns at local schools, especially Treutlen County High School, where authorities implemented additional safety measures, including the use of metal detectors and increased police presence.
