Shooter Terrorizes Westchester Neighborhood by Killing Over 100 Birds

Westchester, Los Angeles, is facing a troubling situation as over 100 birds have been shot to death in the area, causing fear among residents and raising concerns about safety. According to local resident Brenna Lenoir, the community is on edge following the deadly attacks on a murder of crows, with bullets narrowly missing people in the neighborhood.

Lenoir expressed her concerns about the escalating violence, noting that the shooting of birds has been ongoing for some time, even before the pandemic. The Los Angeles Police Department is now actively investigating the situation on Chase Avenue, where the violent attacks have occurred.

The suspects behind the attacks appear to target the birds gathered in a large tree, leading residents to fear for their safety whenever they hear the shots ring out. Lenoir described the sounds of gunfire and the inherent danger it poses to not only the birds but also to the residents and their pets.

In response to the shootings, animal control has stepped in to conduct necropsies, with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife getting involved when federally protected hawks were also killed. Despite these efforts, the identity and motive of the shooter remain unknown, adding to the anxiety felt by Westchester residents.

Lenoir emphasized the urgent need for the violence to stop, highlighting the potential risks of the situation escalating further. With concerns about the safety of children and pets in the neighborhood, the community is calling for swift action to address the ongoing threat posed by the unknown assailant.

As the investigation continues, residents are left apprehensive and fearful, hoping for a resolution to the disturbing series of bird shootings that have left their neighborhood in a state of unease.
