AUSTIN, Texas – Raul Meza Jr., the accused serial killer, has been linked to a cold case from 2018, according to the Austin police. Meza is currently in the Travis County Jail after confessing to the murders of Gloria Elizabeth Lofton in 2019 and Jesse Fraga in 2023.
Meza was arrested for Fraga’s murder on May 29, 2023, after confessing over the phone to Austin police. Former Austin police Sgt. Bruce Mills expressed frustration that justice had not been served for the victims.
During Meza’s arrest, a cell phone was found on him, leading to the retrieval of data from a Google account linked to the phone. The Austin Police Department filed a search warrant on January 2 to obtain Meza’s Google data from November 2016 to May 2023.
Police suspect that Meza may have committed additional sexual assaults and murders following his supervised release in 2016. They believe that the Google account data can corroborate Meza as a suspect in several cases, including those of Lofton, Fraga, and a shooting in San Antonio. Meza is also suspected of committing additional cold case homicides.
The investigation is ongoing to verify Meza’s claims of shooting two people in San Antonio from the end of 2018 to the beginning of 2019. Authorities are working tirelessly to build a strong case and find justice for the victims.
