ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. – Two young men were killed and another was wounded in a shooting resulting from a drug deal turned robbery in Onslow County on Wednesday night. The incident took place in the parking lot of 53 Mini Mart and Tobacco on Burgaw Highway around 5:20 p.m., according to Onslow County Sheriff Chris Thomas.
The victims were identified as 18-year-old Christian Peterson and 19-year-old Kalib Bostick, both from the Jacksonville area. The third victim, who remains unidentified, is in stable condition at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. Wali Johnson, 20, has been charged with murder, robbery with firearms, and conspiring to commit robbery. He is currently in jail without bond.
Sheriff Thomas revealed that the victims were not affiliated with the store and that multiple handguns were found at the crime scene, one of which had been reported stolen. He also stated that additional charges and arrests are possible as the investigation progresses.
