Phakalane Couple Robbed at Gunpoint: Police Investigate Terrifying Home Attack

Gaborone, Botswana – Police in Broadhurst are currently investigating a violent robbery that occurred at the residence of a Chinese business couple in Phakalane early Saturday morning. According to Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae, the couple was attacked by three armed men who broke into their home, demanding money and threatening them with sharp objects resembling a gun.

The incident, which was reported around 3 am, resulted in the intruders ransacking the house and causing significant damage in their search for valuables. The suspects fled the scene with a total of P30,000, $5,000, eight phones (including five brand new ones), a laptop, ATM cards, and the couple’s Toyota Hiace truck, known as Matshelonyana and valued at P140,000. The victims sustained bruises from the attack, as the criminals resorted to violence while demanding money.

Superintendent Lokae mentioned that despite ongoing investigations, no arrests have been made in connection to the robbery. Efforts are being made to track down the suspects and recover the stolen items, particularly the stolen vehicle.
