Northville Township, Michigan- A Northville couple fell victim to a violent armed robbery and sexual assault during an online sale meet-up, leading to the arrest of two suspects on January 20th. The horrifying attacks occurred in the presence of a 1-year-old child at a residence on Eight Mile Road and Silver Spring Drive. Police reported that a man was assaulted while a woman was subjected to a rape, resulting in the apprehension of individuals from Detroit and Taylor.
According to Detective Dan Jones of the Northville Township police, the incident unfolded rapidly within a 20-minute timeframe. The Detroit suspect, identified as 29-year-old Javon Bryant Anderson, and the Taylor suspect remains unnamed as he awaits his federal arraignment on charges related to weapons possession. The male victim was coerced outside, physically assaulted, and then forced back inside the residence for further attacks, including the violent sexual assault of the female victim as the man and their young child were held at gunpoint.
With a total of 26 charges now filed, law enforcement agencies collaborated in the arrest of the suspects on February 5th, involving the Northville Township Detective Bureau, FBI SWAT, FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, Michigan State Police, and the Canton Special Operations Group. Anderson, a convicted felon, faces a bond set at $500,000 and is scheduled for a court appearance on February 16th.
“In my 17 years of experience, this incident stands out as exceptionally unusual,” remarked Detective Jones, highlighting the intensive surveillance efforts that spanned two weeks and involved both electronic and physical monitoring methods. Despite the trauma endured, the victims were treated at a local hospital and subsequently discharged.
