Penny Renee Keys, 58, was discovered by Gregg County deputies responding to the scene on Jamerison Road. She had sustained multiple stab wounds, prompting immediate medical attention. First responders rushed her to a hospital in Longview, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Gregg County Chief Deputy Craig Harrington reported that family members identified the suspect as her 23-year-old son, Zachary Ryan Keys. Following this identification, law enforcement swiftly issued a warrant for his arrest. Zachary was apprehended in Panola County, where deputies located him and took him into custody.
He is currently being held at the Panola County Jail, facing a murder charge. His bond has been set at $1 million, according to jail records.
