Murder Indictments Issued for Seminole County Shooting Suspects

Oviedo, Florida – Two men were indicted for murder on Tuesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager in a Seminole County apartment complex in November of 2023. Jhamiel Joseph, 20, and Tavrious Jiles, 21, are facing charges of first-degree felony murder and attempted robbery with a firearm, according to the State Attorney’s Office. Additionally, a third suspect, Shaniah O’Neal, 22, has been charged separately with accessory after the fact to a capital felony and conspiracy to commit robbery with a firearm.

The incident took place on November 30, 2023, around 11:45 p.m. at the Mystic Cove Apartments in Oviedo. Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at the location where they discovered 18-year-old Isaiah Perez dead on the sidewalk. The victim’s mother, Yenifer Perez, found her son with multiple gunshot wounds after hearing gunshots.

Following the shooting, detectives conducted an investigation believing that the incident was targeted rather than a random act of violence. Witnesses reported hearing shots but were unable to provide further details to aid the investigation. Authorities found the victim’s car nearby with its engine running and headlights on, indicating a sense of urgency during the attack.

Joseph and Jiles are currently in custody at the Seminole County jail without bond. Their arraignment hearings are scheduled for April. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather evidence and witness testimonies related to the tragic event.

As the legal proceedings progress, the community and loved ones of the victim await justice and closure in this ongoing case. The State Attorney’s Office remains committed to prosecuting those responsible for the senseless loss of life that occurred in the Seminole County apartment complex that fateful night in November.
