DELLE, Utah — Authorities have arrested the ex-wife of a truck driver who was found murdered in his semi-truck with his hands bound. Jaspinder Singh’s death has sent shockwaves through the trucking community and raised questions about the circumstances leading to his violent demise.
The 42-year-old truck driver was discovered in September on an interstate on-ramp after a colleague noted that his GPS signal had ceased movement. Investigators reported that Singh had sustained multiple stab wounds, primarily to his neck and lower body, and showed signs of being restrained with zip ties.
Evidence revealed that Singh was followed for more than 300 miles by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Jaswinder Singh Dhillon. This vehicle reportedly made stops at the same gas stations as Singh, suggesting a premeditated plan. Dhillon was apprehended in October and faces serious charges, including first-degree felonies for aggravated murder and kidnapping.
In a recent development, Singh’s ex-wife, identified as Purewal, was taken into custody in relation to his murder. Investigators from the Utah Department of Public Safety indicated that there were numerous communications between Purewal and Dhillon around the time of Singh’s death. During the evening of September 26, they allegedly talked for a total of six hours, and Purewal made 34 calls to Dhillon after his arrest, expressing sentiments of love.
Adding complexity to the case, Purewal is currently married to another man, neither of whom is Singh or Dhillon. An acquaintance of Purewal informed authorities that she was aware of the murder plot but did not believe Dhillon would go through with it.
Charging documents suggest that Dhillon may have been influenced by Purewal to commit the alleged crimes.
