Jackson, New Jersey — A 28-year-old woman was discovered dead from gunshot wounds outside an apartment complex on Saturday morning, with authorities charging her former boyfriend in connection with the incident. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office identified the victim as Toraya Reid and the suspect as Shaquille Green, 29, also from Jackson.
According to statements from law enforcement, Reid and Green were previously in a dating relationship. Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer confirmed the relationship in a news release following the tragic event.
Police received a 911 call around 11 a.m. alerting them to gunfire and an unresponsive woman in the vicinity of the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road. Upon arrival, officers found Reid near the complex exit, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
While investigating the scene, police noticed Green fleeing the area on New Prospect Road. Authorities apprehended him without resistance shortly thereafter.
Green now faces multiple charges, including murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Following his arrest, he was taken to Ocean County Jail, where he is awaiting a detention hearing.
