PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. — A woman called 911 and remained with a critically wounded homeowner after finding him stabbed inside a Paulding County house where she and her husband were moving Sunday, authorities said.
The homeowner later died at a hospital, and the woman’s husband, Jacob Brady, was arrested on charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said Brady and the victim had argued before the violence.
The couple had been moving into the Windmill Creek neighborhood home that day and planned to become roommates with the man who already lived there, according to investigators. Authorities did not say how the three people knew one another or how long the arrangement had been planned.
At some point during the move, a verbal argument began between Brady and the homeowner. Investigators said the confrontation became violent but did not release further information about what was said or what prompted the dispute.
Brady’s wife later found the homeowner inside the house suffering from multiple stab wounds. She contacted emergency dispatchers and stayed with him while deputies and paramedics traveled to the residence, authorities said.
When first responders arrived, they found Brady on the back porch with blood on him. Deputies then entered the home and located the wounded homeowner.
Paramedics provided emergency care and transported the man to a local hospital. He later died from his injuries. His identity was not included in the account of the incident.
Deputies took Brady into custody following their initial response. The murder and aggravated assault charges describe the accusations against him and do not amount to a finding of guilt.
