ATTLEBORO, Mass. – A tragic incident unfolded early Monday in Attleboro when a Massachusetts man was accused of fatally stabbing his own brother. The authorities were alerted to a disturbance at 3:25 a.m. at Melissa Drive, where they discovered the victim, 47-year-old Richard McCormick, with multiple stab wounds outside one of the residences. Despite efforts to save him, Richard McCormick was pronounced dead upon arrival at Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
The suspect, identified as 51-year-old James McCormick, was promptly arrested and is currently facing charges of assault with intent to murder and assault and battery. Shock and disbelief rippled through the quiet neighborhood of Melissa Drive, where residents attested to the peaceful nature of the area, emphasizing that such violence was unprecedented in their community.
